Group culture is a dynamic and challenging area of human performance. To add to that, empathetic AI is a relatively new frontier in the world of artificial intelligence that is garnering more attention all the time. When we bring these two things together, we create an arena where entirely new frontiers can be discovered in human performance. Minter Dial, in his book, Heartificial Empathy describes artificial empathy as the coding of empathy into machines. He describes artificial empathy or heartificial empathy as personal, situational and based on the appropriate intentions.
Why Empathetic AI Matters In Group Culture
We know it is essential to find ways to leverage empathetic AI to build organizations that achieve higher levels than ever before. In the video below, we learn about the value of this technology and how it can be used it to drastically enhance human performance in multiple fields.
Where Group Culture Suffers Now
Relying on digital surveys is causing a lot of havoc in the world of group culture and performance. It is such a common, relied upon, standard tool, that so many use. However, not very many are asking the question about effective they actually are.
We asked groups that we’ve worked with about how they felt their needs were being addressed using surveys as the primary tool. The result of that was very clear and painted the picture we had hypothesized.

To collect this data we decided to use both a survey AND virtual focus groups as we continue to test our behaviour-based data collection methods.
This information matters because there is a lot that rides on these surveys.
- Mental health
- Organization engagement, performance, and commitment.
- Innovation
- Turnover & lost time
- Efficiency & lack of
- And more!
When we choose to collect information on groups in order to improve how they feel, perform, and collaborate, we just continuously see failure of most digital surveys to reliably do this.
There’s No Other Option…Or Is There?
This is where our work, and the work of others in the empathetic AI field, is going to allow for more accurate information to be found. When we look at more reliable factors (body language, micro-expressions of the face, smell, and sound) we can collect more reliable data.
When we collect more reliable data, we produce more reliable results for our people.
By using empathetic AI in our technology, we create a world where understand human wants and needs is more accurate than it has ever been before.
